Privacy Statement – Tech Wing Management

Last Updated: March 1st 2025

Tech Wing Management (operating as Tech Wingman as Breakbottle Multimedia LLC) is a small business technology advisory firm based in Texas. Our ethos is built on trust and data protection – true to our tagline, “We have your back – We identify and navigate growth strategies.” This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you interact with our website (tech-wingman.com) or services. We are committed to transparency and compliance with applicable U.S. privacy laws (including California’s CCPA) and follow industry best practices to protect your data.

Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that is relevant and necessary for the purposes described in this policy. This includes:

  • Information You Provide Voluntarily: When you interact with us, such as by subscribing to our newsletter, filling out a contact form, or (in the future) creating a user account, you may provide personal details. This data may include your name, email address, phone number, and a short bio or other information you choose to share. For example, if you subscribe to email updates, we will collect your email address (and any other details you submit during sign-up) to send you our newsletter or communications. If our site introduces user account registration, we will collect the account information you provide (like name, email, phone, bio) to create and manage your account.
  • Information Collected Automatically: We use cookies and third-party tools (like Google Analytics) to collect certain data automatically when you visit our site. This data may include your device and browser information, IP address, pages visited, and usage patterns such as time spent on pages and links clicked. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site; Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser and collect technical data (e.g. IP address and device identifiers) as you navigate our site. This information is generally aggregated and does not directly identify you, but is treated as personal data in some jurisdictions. (See Cookies & Tracking below for more detail.)
  • Cookies and Site Preferences: Our website runs on WordPress with both marketplace plugins and our in-house custom built plugins, which by default may use cookies to enhance user experience. For instance, if we have a blog and you leave a comment, WordPress may store your name, email address, and website in a cookie on your device to “remember” your details for next time. These cookies are for your convenience so you don’t have to re-type information when you comment again. WordPress also uses essential session cookies if you log in (e.g. for site administrators or future account features) to maintain your session and preferences. Session cookies typically expire after a short period, while comment cookies may persist for up to a year. (More on cookies in Cookies & Tracking below.)

Note: Tech Wingman’s website is intended for use by adult business owners and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal data to us. If we learn that we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes, all in alignment with our mission to “have your back” and provide valuable tech advisory services:

  • To Provide Services and Respond to You: If you contact us or request information, we use your contact details to respond to inquiries and provide the advice or service you requested. For example, if you email us or fill out a form, we will use your email or phone number to communicate with you directly. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will use your email to send you updates and relevant content (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • Site Functionality: Data like cookies and user account information (for future features) help our website function correctly and remember your preferences. For instance, cookies allow you to stay logged in during a session or pre-fill your details in comment forms, improving your browsing experience. These functional uses of data ensure that our site is user-friendly and personalized where appropriate.
  • Analytics and Improvement: We analyze usage data (via Google Analytics and similar tools) to understand how our site is used. This helps us identify popular pages, troubleshoot website performance, and improve our content and services. For example, knowing which pages are visited most often or how users navigate our site guides us in optimizing navigation and providing more of the content you find helpful. Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate form; we do not use it to individually profile visitors. (Google Analytics may also use this data for its own analytics purposes – see Third-Party Services below.)
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: We may use information (like IP addresses or logs) to protect the security of our website, our business, and our users. This includes detecting and preventing fraudulent or malicious activity. For example, we might log IP addresses when someone attempts to log in to a future account feature, to monitor for suspicious login attempts.
  • Legal Compliance: If necessary, we will use or disclose information to comply with legal obligations. For instance, should we ever be required by law enforcement or regulations to retain or provide certain data, we will only do so in accordance with applicable laws.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for any purposes incompatible with those described above. If we intend to use your information for a new purpose, we will update this Privacy Statement and, if required, obtain your consent.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies and similar technologies to ensure our site works smoothly, to remember your preferences, and to understand and improve how visitors use our site. When you first visit tech-wingman.com, you will be informed about our use of cookies (via our cookie consent banner – see Cookie Consent below).

The types of cookies we use include:

  • Essential Cookies: These are necessary for our website’s core functionality. For example, if our site has a login feature (for administrators or future user accounts), WordPress session cookies keep you logged in and maintain your session state. Essential cookies might also be used for security (to authenticate users or protect against fraud). Because these cookies are necessary for the website to operate, they are typically exempt from consent requirements. You cannot opt out of essential cookies, but they don’t collect information for marketing or tracking.
  • Preference Cookies: If applicable, we use these to remember your choices and settings on our site. For instance, WordPress comment cookies (used when you comment on a blog post) remember your name and email so that you don’t have to re-enter them on your next visit. This cookie saves you time and provides a smoother experience. Preference cookies are optional – if you clear them or decline non-essential cookies, you may just need to retype information when interacting with certain features.
  • Analytics Cookies: We utilize Google AdSense, Search, Analytics & Other google tools to collect anonymized statistical data about our website traffic. We use these insights to improve operations, content and user experience. Google Analytics cookies are non-essential, meaning the site will function if you block them. (If you prefer not to be included in Google Analytics data at all, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or an Add-on for blocking Google Services applied to websites tracking.)
  • Third-Party Cookies: In addition to the cookies we set, some third-party services that we integrate may set their own cookies. For example, if our site features content from another platform or you make a payment through PayPal or Stripe, those services may place cookies for their functionality or fraud prevention. Any such cookies are controlled by the third-party and governed by their privacy policies. (We outline third-party services in the next section.)

Your Choices: Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline some or all cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. Keep in mind that if you disable cookies, certain features of our site might not function properly. For example, if you block all cookies, our site may not remember your preferences or login status, and some pages might not display perfectly. However, you will still be able to access most content even with non-essential cookies disabled. We provide a cookie consent banner on your first visit so you can choose which cookies to allow (see below).

Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We value your privacy and do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial uses. However, we do use trusted third-party services to operate our website and deliver our services to you. We only share information with these providers as necessary for them to perform their functions, and each provider is required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. Our key third-party service integrations include:

  • Google Services: We use Google Services such as Analytics, Search, AdSense, and any web services provided by Google, Inc. We have configured Google Analytics in compliance with Google’s policies – for example, we do not send personal details like your name or email to Google, and we honor any settings to anonymize IP addresses when applicable. We disclose our use of Google Analytics to you in accordance with Google’s requirements, and by using our site you are informed that your browsing information is being collected and processed by Google Services for the purposes stated. (For more details on how Google uses data from sites like ours, you can visit Google’s information page.)
  • Website Platform (WordPress): Our site is built on WordPress, which means certain data processing is inherent to the platform. WordPress may also log technical data like IP addresses as part of its security and admin logging. These activities are standard for operating a website and are used only to ensure functionality, moderate content, and protect against misuse.
  • Email Newsletter Service: To manage our email subscriptions and send out our Tech Wingman newsletter, we may use a third-party email service (for example, an email marketing platform or a newsletter provider). If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address (and possibly your name, if provided) will be stored on that third-party platform’s servers. We will only use your subscription information to send you the newsletters and updates you signed up for. Each email will include an unsubscribe link so you can opt out at any time. The email service provider is not permitted to use your data except to send emails on our behalf. (If we use a specific provider such as Mailchimp, Substack, etc., we will follow their policies to safeguard your data. They may collect certain analytics on email open rates or link clicks to help us understand engagement, but this is on an aggregate level.)
  • Payment Processing (PayPal/Stripe/Square): Although we do not process payments directly on our site (we do not collect or store credit card numbers on our servers), we may provide options for you to pay for services via third-party payment processors like PayPal or Stripe. If you choose to make a payment or purchase through such a link, you will be redirected to the payment processor’s platform. Any payment information you provide (credit card number, billing details, etc.) is handled directly by that third-party on their secure systems, and we do not see or store your sensitive payment details. These payment processors have their own privacy policies and security measures; we recommend reviewing PayPal’s, Square’s or Stripe’s privacy policies if you use those services.
  • Other Third-Party Tools: We strive to keep third-party scripts and services to a minimum. However, our site may occasionally include features or plugins that originate from third parties – for example, an embedded social media feed, a scheduling calendar, or a video embedded from YouTube/Vimeo. If such features are present, they may collect usage data or set cookies in line with their own policies. We do not allow third parties to collect your personal data without your knowledge or consent through our site.

We may share information if required to do so by law or a legal process (such as a court order or subpoena), or to respond to government authorities, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or financial fraud. We may also share information to enforce our site’s terms and policies or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or that of you or others.

Aside from the circumstances above, we will not disclose your personal information to any outside parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Your trust is important to us, and we maintain strict confidentiality of the data you entrust to Tech Wingman.

Your Rights and Choices (Including Data Deletion)

We believe you should have control over your personal information. In accordance with privacy best practices – and requirements in certain jurisdictions like California – you have the following rights and choices regarding your data:

  • Access & Transparency: You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, and to request details about how we use and share it. This means you can ask us to confirm whether we are processing your personal data, and request a copy of that data. We will provide you with the information in a readily usable format, generally within a reasonable time frame.
  • Correction: If any of your personal details we have are incorrect or outdated, you have the right to request a correction (also known as the right to rectification). For example, if you have an account profile in the future or are on our mailing list and you notice a typo in your name or a changed email address, you can contact us to update that information. We strive to keep your data accurate and will promptly make corrections upon request.
  • Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information that we have collected and retained. Commonly called the “right to be forgotten,” this allows you to ask us to erase data like your contact info or account details from our records. For instance, if you previously signed up for our newsletter and want to be removed, you can ask us to delete your subscription information (though the easier route is to click “unsubscribe” in any newsletter email, which we honor immediately). If you had created a user account (when that feature is available) or left comments on our blog and want those removed, you can request deletion of those as well. Important: When we receive a deletion request, we will delete the information we have about you from our active systems and records, unless retaining it is required for legal compliance or our internal record-keeping. We will confirm with you once we have deleted the requested data. Please note that backups or archives may not be immediately overwritten, but if restored, we will delete the data then as well.
  • Opt-Out of Data Sharing/Sale: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. While we do not engage in selling data, we treat any data sharing very carefully. If you have any concerns or want to ensure no data is shared beyond what is necessary, you can contact us to discuss or opt-out of any marketing or analytics sharing that isn’t essential. For example, if we ever considered using cookies for advertising or sharing info with a partner, we would only do so with notice and consent. You also have the right to direct us not to share your information for targeted advertising purposes. Again, as of now, we only use your data for our own analysis and to serve you, not for others’ marketing.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these privacy rights. This means if you request data deletion or opt out of certain processing, we will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide a lesser quality of service just because you exercised your rights. Your experience with Tech Wingman will remain the same before and after any request. (However, please understand that in some cases we may not be able to provide a specific service if we no longer have certain data.)
  • California Residents – CCPA: If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) provides you with the rights listed above (to know/access, delete, correct, opt-out, and non-discrimination). We have extended those core rights to all our users where feasible, but California residents can exercise these rights specifically under the CCPA. Additionally, California’s “Shine the Light” law allows residents to request certain information about our disclosure of personal data to third parties for their direct marketing purposes (which we currently do not do). If you are a California resident and have any questions or requests concerning your rights, please contact us as described below. For verification purposes, we may ask you to provide certain information to confirm your identity when you make a request (this is to protect your data from unauthorized access). We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by law (generally within 45 days for CCPA requests, or let you know if we need an extension). Any disclosures we provide will cover the 12-month period preceding your request, as required by CCPA.
  • Other U.S. State Residents: We also strive to comply with other emerging state privacy laws (such as those in Colorado, Virginia, Utah, and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act once effective) to the extent they apply to our operations. Many of these laws grant similar rights to access, correction, deletion, and opting out of certain data uses. Even if you are not a California resident, you are welcome to exercise the equivalent rights outlined above, and we will do our best to honor them in the spirit of these laws. Our goal is to provide all users with substantial control over their information.
  • EU/International Users: Although our business is currently U.S.-focused, if you are accessing from the European Union or other regions with data protection laws (like the GDPR), you may have additional rights (e.g. the right to restrict processing or data portability). Please know that we intend to give you similar control and transparency. You may contact us with any privacy-related requests, and we will address them pursuant to applicable laws and our own commitment to privacy.

Cookie Consent Banner

To respect your privacy and comply with applicable laws, we have implemented a cookie consent banner on our website. This banner appears when you first visit our site (and again if it’s been a while since you last cleared cookies or if we add new cookies that require consent). Our cookie banner is designed to inform you in clear, non-technical language about our use of cookies and to give you a choice in allowing non-essential cookies.

What the Banner Says: Our cookie consent notice provides a brief summary of our cookie use and asks for your consent. For example, the banner may read:

“We use cookies and similar technologies to ensure you get the best experience on our website, to analyze traffic, and to remember your preferences. By clicking ‘Accept’, you agree to our use of non-essential cookies as described in our Privacy Policy. You can manage your cookie preferences or withdraw consent at any time. [Accept] [Decline] [Learn More]”

The exact wording may vary, if happen to update, but it will always clearly state why we use cookies and what clicking “Accept” means. We avoid confusing language or pre-ticked boxes – your consent should be an informed choice.

If you have any questions about the cookie consent or need help managing your preferences, feel free to contact us. We want you to feel comfortable with how we use cookies and not be surprised by any data collection on our site.

How We Protect Your Data

Tech Wing Management takes the security of your personal information seriously. We implement a variety of technical and organizational measures to safeguard the data you entrust to us, in order to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Some of the security steps we take include:

  • Encryption: Our website is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS/SSL). This means that any data you submit through forms on our site (such as a contact form or newsletter sign-up) is transmitted securely and cannot easily be intercepted by third parties.
  • Secure Hosting: We host our website with reputable hosting providers who employ their own robust security measures (firewalls, network monitoring, intrusion detection, etc.). Server logs and data are kept secure, and access to servers is limited to authorized personnel. We ensure all software is kept up-to-date to patch any security vulnerabilities promptly.
  • Access Controls: Internally, personal data is accessible only to those in our small team who need it to perform their duties. Our team are trained on the importance of confidentiality and privacy. Access to any administrative interfaces or databases is protected with strong passwords and, where possible, two-factor authentication.
  • Third-Party Security: When we use third-party services (like email providers or payment processors), we choose established companies known for their security standards. For example, PayPal and Stripe are PCI-DSS compliant and specialize in secure financial transactions.
  • Data Minimization: We only collect the information we need. By not collecting excessive personal data, we reduce the risk exposure.

While we strive to protect your information, no website or Internet transmission is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of data. However, we continuously review and enhance our security practices to mitigate risks. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law, and we will take all necessary steps to address the breach and prevent future incidents.

Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Statement from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. If the changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice (such as by posting a notice on our website’s homepage or sending an email notification if appropriate).

We encourage you to review this Privacy Statement periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continuing to use our website or services after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms (to the extent permitted by law). If we were to make a change that retroactively impacts how we handle previously collected personal data, we would seek your consent as required by applicable laws.
